12 Biblical Principles for Wealth and Riches

Many Christians fail to understand the reason they struggle financially is due to the fact that they don’t follow Biblical principles. If you want to be rich and wealthy as a Christian you must live your life by these principles.

In this article you will find the 12 principles that worked for many Biblical figures like King David. These principles are still at work today for anyone who wishes to live wealthy and happily.

1. Obedience to God’s Call.

The first principle is to obey God’s call when you are instructed. In Genesis 12:1. God told Abraham to leave his father’s house and go to a strange land. Now the Lord God said to Abram; ‘Get out of your country, from your kindred and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.

As a Christian if you want to live wealthy learn to obey God’s call. If God asks you to quit things that are not pleasant then do it.

2. Obedience to God’s Instructions.

Most times Christians struggle financially because they don’t listen to God’s Instructions. Most Christians think they can succeed by using their own methods or means. God told Isaac not to leave but to sow in the land. Isaac sowed and became very prosperous even though all conditions were not favorable. Genesis 26: 13. The man began to prosper, and continued prospering, until he became very prosperous. Psalms 37: 4. Do what the Lord wants, and he will give you your heart desires.

3. Working hard.

You have to work hard as a Christian. Prayer alone is not enough. Prayer will make you spiritually strong and vibrant but won’t give you money. Jacob with Laban had to work hard to succeed. By the time Jacob left Laban he was very wealthy and rich. But this came through sacrifice of daily work. Genesis 30.

4. Aligning yourself with God’s purpose in trials.

You must learn to align yourself with God’s purpose in trials. When trials come, you should not give up on God. The trial may be a stepping stone for your lifting. See the case of Joseph as an example. Betrayed by his brothers, Potiphar’s wife lied against him, was thrown into the pit and then prison. Forgotten by the chief baker. Yet he remained calm and kept trusting God without complaining.

Because he aligns himself with God’s purpose in trials he was lifted up and made ruler of Egypt.

Genesis 41:37 – 4 4.

5. Obedience to Parents.

Obeying your parents is one of the principles of wealth and riches. Listening and learning from them and following what they asked you to do. King David is a perfect example for this. When Samuel wanted to anoint a new king after Saul disobeyed God and was rejected, he went to Jesse house. The Bible says David took care of his father’s sheep. It was obedience and taking care of those sheep that made God see a Leader in him. If he could take care of his father’s sheeps then he could lead Israel as their King. 1 Samuel 17: 34.

6. Sacrifice.

You must pay the price if you want to enjoy lasting wealth and riches as a Christian. The price could be a one-time sacrifice that will open a massive door for you or multiple sacrifices that will open great money opportunities in your life.

2 Chronicles 1: 6 – 7. And Solomon went up there to the Bronze Altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings before the Lord.

On that same night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him ‘ask’ What shall I give you.

7. Acquiring God’s Wisdom.

The wisdom of this world is foolish. If you want to be wealthy and rich as a Christian acquire the wisdom of God. Acquiring God’s wisdom is one of the main principles for wealth in the life of a Christian. God gave Solomon wisdom and he prospered. 2 Chronicle 1: 10 – 12.

James 1:5. If any of you lacks wisdom let him ask from God.

8. The role of the Wife.

The wife has an important role to play in marriage. Especially when it comes to the success of both couples. A scattered marriage and disorganized one will affect the finances of the Christian couples. But a stable marriage will open prosperity for the couple.

Proverbs 18:22. He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.

9. The role of the husband.

Just as the wife, the husband has a role to play in the prosperity, wealth and riches of the family. 1 Peter 3: 7. Likewise you husbands, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. That means if your prayers about wealth and riches are hindered you will not get them. Treat your wife well so your prayers will be answered.

10. Be grateful to God for little things to see bigger things.

You have to give thanks for the little things God has done for you. Giving thanks to God opens up other doors of opportunities and blessings for you. 1 Thessalonians 5: 18. In everything give thanks. Philippians 4: 6 – 7.

11. Have a strong desire for wealth.

Desire is everything when it comes to succeeding in life. This is one of the principles of wealth and riches. A weak desire will bring a weak result but a strong desire will bring bigger results. Mark 11:24.

12. As a man thinketh in his heart so is he, Proverbs 23:7.

Your daily thoughts will determine if you will accumulate wealth or not. You become what you think most of the time. If you think poverty you are going to be poor, but if you think of wealth, riches and all the good things money can offer you then you will be wealthy and rich.

In conclusion:

God wants his children to live a happy life on earth. You must understand this fact, he doesn’t want you to struggle financially and be in want. He wants you to have enough and be a blessing to others.

Though we need wealth and riches, you have to understand the most important and essential part of our Christian work is to be spiritually developed and maintain a constant fellowship with God.
